Project 52: Back to School Social

{image by tech}

I had this date planned. We were going to play the Wii. I was going to beat him in Dr. Mario and boxing. Then Nathan forwarded an email from his school concerning a back to school social the same evening as our date. They have a back to school social for all the MBA students at the beginning of the semester. We’ve been to a few of them before. We decided to go. Lesson #1: Experiencing change of plans can be healthy for the relationship.

Since we were going out for date night, I arranged for my parents to babysit. Even though this was not an at-home date, I still wanted to keep it at the reasonable cost of $0. Then I dressed up for a night downtown with the one I love. Lesson #2: Going out = putting on makeup.

We went and had such a great time that I forgot to take pictures. We had great conversations with his classmates. Met a few new people. I ate all the cheese I could from their cheese platter. I am a cheese fiend. I was surprised at some of Nathan’s classmates talking to me about Simply Modern Mom. Nathan had told them about it and they have been following this site. Completely flattered. Lesson #3: Nathan is my no. 1 fan and supporter of SMM.

Nathan said: I appreciate Tiffany going to the MBA Social with me. She had other plans but was willing to accommodate a last minute change for me. She is very nice. I loved going out with her because I was able to show her off to my classmates – they still wonder how I got so lucky… so do I.

    Okay, I am going to do this, but I have a private blog I would have to link to…hhmmm. I will have to work it into Candace’s segment somehow.

      If you can’t somehow manage to link to your private blog, you can always tell us about your dates in the comments. It would be lovely if you link!

    okay, so we went skiing on saturday, not a cheap date by any means but sooooooo fun! It was nice because my husband has never really viewed me as being athletic and I can ski pretty good. It was fun to see the surprise in him. He just kept saying “wow, you pretty good at this!” good for the ego!
    So I would say try doing something active that your good at and see how he reacts, even if it is mini golf!
    Thanks Tiffany!

    I LOVED being a part of Mr.’s MBA experience. Some of the couples we met were through my socializing and not his =)

    I like what you’re doing, Tiff! This is a great idea. I haven’t joined the project yet. Any ideas on how to do this project with a new baby on the way and living in a completely new and different state (lack of babysitters we know)? Definitely a challenge, but I’m sure we’re up to it. Doing a year of dates in advance is an awesome idea! Thanks for having that guest on.

    Okay, so we did do a date night this past week. After our toddler was in bed, we sat in the living room and watched an old favorite movie “The Hunt for Red October”. We both like this movie and chatted during the movie and after. It was relaxing and fun. Not the most creative, but when you’re 8 1/2 months pregnant, there’s not a whole lot you feel like doing at the end of the day. :-)
