Another Day of Thrift Store Finds

I went thrift store shopping again this Monday. I know. I was just there last Monday. I have been trying to find a bookshelf. A specific type. I want it about waist level and deep. I’m going to use it in the playroom to hold plastic bins. No luck finding the shelf. But I had all the luck finding more Polaroid cameras and a few other favorites. I also bought a few thrift store stuff that will be turning into projects – home decor and sewing. I just need to finish spring cleaning before I jump into projects again. One thing at a time, right?

I didn’t know this about myself. But I have a recent fetish for old ugly luggages. Remember the other one from last week? I came home ecstatic about these vintage luggages. Nathan glanced at them and said, “It’s not vintage. It’s old and ugly.” OK. So maybe not so vintage. I still like them though. I think I might paint it bright red. I got this set for $3.79.

Wooden bowl for $1. I think I might paint this white.

It was my lucky day. I purchased these Polaroid cameras for $1.50 each. It’s too bad the film for them is $31 for a pack of 10. These will be sitting next to this. As I was showing Nathan my Polaroid cameras I exclaimed, “I can’t believe people are getting rid of Polaroid cameras!” He replied, “They are probably thinking, ‘I can’t believe anyone would buy these Polaroid cameras.’” So I like Polaroids.

Not sure what I am doing with this yet, but I love it. This white basket was $1. My mom actually found it first and I took it from her. Thanks, mom!

Lastly, I bought this tea cup for $1. It’s from England. Beautiful, right?

» Tell me… What was the most unusual thing you found at a thrift store?

I LOVE the bowl! That was a great score. Most unusual? Probably a group of 4 LONG (~36″) wooden bread molds. I think I paid about $2 ea for them. Martha Stewart has one in her set kitchen, right behind the cooktop, with bowls of spices on it.

I love jazzing up baskets! Adding fabric to the inside and spray painting the outside are my ordinary weapons.

    3. Love your finds Tiffany. I’m a treasure hunter as well, my latest find was a Moroccan linen blanket, so beautiful!

Ok, the next time you plan a trip to find treasures, let me know a day in advance so I can go with you! You have a great eye for finds, so I’ll need your help with ideas. I have a raven-esque desire to collect shiny things.

BTW- Love the tea cup! One of my favorite eateries at college had a beautiful display of antique tea cups and saucers. I have always wanted to do something similar. :)

Nice finds. I especially like the woven basket (nice mom!) and the wooden bowl. Dropping by from Inspired By. Hope you’ll come see what has inspired me in Blog Land this week. Also, our giveaway ends Saturday night – be sure to swing by AtticMag to register!

    6. I love thrift store shopping. I am like you–I usually thrift store shop with a specific item in mind, but sometimes, especially when I can’t find that specific item, I end up buying a bunch of other stuff. Oh well. That’s the beauty of thrift stores, right? You find stuff for great deals that you never knew you wanted or needed. :)

    8. Those suitcases are darling! I even like them as-is.

I’ve been reading your blog for the past few months, and I’m always delighted with your posts (especially your sweet deals—I love a good thrift store find). This post would be perfect for a link party I sponsor called Saturday Steals (but it extends into Sunday, too, for the latecomers). I just posted this week’s link list (a bit early), and I think this post would be perfect for it! Feel free to check it out.
