Time Out For Moms Challenge

Time Out For Moms

To start out our celebrating motherhood weeks (this week and next week) I am issuing a challenge to you. So are you ready for a challenge? As if you don’t already have enough going on in your life. But that is exactly why you need this.

As modern moms, it is our tendency to give 110 percent of ourselves to our children, husband, family and community. Often times we forget about ourselves. You know how it is. I’m sure you can relate. Just as we are trying to strengthen our marriage with Project 52: Date Nights, I want all of us to strengthen ourselves as mothers.

Really, when was the last time you took time off to do something for yourself? And going to bed a night before 10 p.m. or going to the bathroom alone doesn’t count. So here’s the challenge… Sometime between now and Saturday, May 8, you must take at least 30 minutes to nurture your soul and pamper yourself.

You can decide what you would like to do. Take a nap. Hang out with your girlfriends. Go shopping. Treat yourself to a spa trip. Dine out with your mother. Grab a drink and a good book to read in a cafe. Take a yoga class. Roam around a bookstore. Whatever. But it must be you and no husband or children involved. And it must be at least 30 minutes. Now you have two weeks to do this. Blog about it and link up your experience here on Simply Modern Mom at our linky party that will begin this Thursday at 9 a.m. You don’t have to have this done by then, that is just when I’ll make the linky party available for you to link to your blog.

And there may be some prizes involved. So it’s a win/win situation for you. You get to take time off for yourself doing something you enjoy. Then it also gives you the chance to win something. I’m giving you two weeks to do this. I know some of you are plan ahead people and need at least two weeks of advance notice to get anything done. So there you go.
In fact, take a button to help you remember. Add the button to your blog. And as always, if you don’t have a blog, you can still participate. And please tell your friends and family about it. Don’t all moms deserve to take some time out?

P.S. I will also have a photo contest later also for our celebrate motherhood event. So get your cameras out and ready!

» Tell me… What do you think you will do to take time off for yourself?

Two of my favorite things are walking around looking at everything at Target and Barnes and Noble. I usually always have my son with me so I don’t get to look at any books besides the children’s dept. (which I do love) and don’t get to walk down every single aisle of target. This will be my plan…And I think I will give myself $25 to spend on something un-needed but something I want!

I used to have such a hard time with this topic, at least for the first 6 months of my daughters life. “Me Time” used to seem so selfish and unnecessary… I finally learned how important it really is…but honestly, it was quite a process!! Now, I attend an aerobics class everyday because I love to be active… I alternate Yoga and Zumba to make things interesting. I also go out with my friends on a GNO once a month (minimum)!!
