Annie Leonard spent 10 years researching and learning about where stuff comes from and where it goes. She called this the Story of Stuff Project. Annie put together her findings in an stick-figured like animated drawing and starring herself as the narrator. The movie is 20 minutes full of interesting facts and information teaching us about how things are made, how we use it and where it goes when we toss it. For some, this may seem a bit too “Go green!” and propaganda-ish. I watched it myself and it caused me to rethink about the things I really need or want and how it is affecting the environment and our health. I haven’t become an environmentalist and all one with the nature. However, I do think anything, on a grand or minuscule scale, we can do to provide a better Earth will be beneficial for us and our children. Think about how we try to protect our children with what they put in their mouths, germs and diseases, any physical harm or even chemical substances. But how do you think it all got there?
The Story of Stuff Project also have other films that are also interesting. What I like about The Story of Stuff Project is it doesn’t only notify us of the problems, but it also provide ways for solutions. Better yet, watch this with your children and the site provides teaching tools to help them internalize what they are learning. It also teaches about our economy and how we can make a change in it. » Tell me… Do you think we live in a consumer society where we need stuff, lots of stuff? How do you think that affects our economy? How does it affect your life?
Our consumer society is an epidemic. We can’t STOP buying stuff. No matter how thrifty some people are, we still buy so much more stuff than we ever have in history. It’s difficult on a small budget because we all want, want, want so much, but can only HAVE what feels like so little compared to the next person and the next person.
Oh Really? This is nothing more then indoctrination. The Progressives are showing this Garbage to our LITTLE children in school. It is nothing more then PROGRESSIVE spin to turn our children against AMERICA. It’s total nonsense!!

thanks for bringing the view of the other side of the political spectrum. i featured her site and video not because i believe in everything she said. but i think it’s something we should view to bring perspective into our lives as to what we really need and what we want. it is my personal opinion that there are people out there who are buying stuff they can’t afford and have no way of paying for it. and that is, what i believe, part of the problem with our economy right now. we want stuff and we get it. but do we really need it and can we afford it?
Oh, I agree there are many people buying things they can’t afford, and don’t really need. That is a problem. Many people want instant gratification. I think we need to focus more on the things that do matter. Such as family and friends. These are the things of value.

I did want to add. I may not be the most eloquent writer, but I am passionate. I love my country, and I am very upset by what is happening right now. I feel we are losing America and it is turning into a dictatorship.
I have seen Annie Leonard’s work before. She is a left-wing activist that produces propaganda films to be shown in schools to idoctrinate our children.
Here is her take on Cap & Trade. A Bill that would totally cripple America. A bill they want to pass on a debunked theory of Global Warming. Global Warming is a scam. There are mountains of evidence showing the “scientist” tampered with the data. The measurements they reported were not true.
The far left-wing radicals are pushing a Socialist agenda and are trying to destroy the foundations of our wonderful country. And many of us don’t even realize it is a propaganda campaign. I didn’t realize it myself until about 2 years ago when I started to do my OWN research.
This is simply about gaining CONTROL of the people..not saving the environment.
