This happened a few months ago when Elle was still using her highchair. Nathan had placed her in the highchair eating food from her tray. He left her in there. I was working upstairs. Unaware Elle was in the high chair with no supervision.
The next series of events happened within seconds. I heard from the loft upstairs a huge gushing of water. I ran downstairs to find this scene. Elle standing on top of our kitchen counter frolicking around in a huge puddle of water. First thought, “How did she get up there?” Second thought, “Where is that water coming from?”
After a few minutes of playing detective work, I came to the conclusion that Elle climbed onto the counter from her highchair. Then she managed to muster enough muscle power to dump over a full pitcher of water that was on the counter. The pitcher was removed prior to this picture. There was water all over the counter and covered the kitchen floor.
The damage had been done, so I snapped some pictures and laughed at the ability of this little girl.
» Tell me… Any flooding or water experience with your children?

Boy, have I got a water story for you! It is too long to post here, so check it out on my blog:
http://talesfromtangerine.blogspot.com/2008/12/christmas-mayhem.html
oh my gosh. i think your story tops all water stories. and that would be scary having your child stuck in the bathroom by himself and turning on the tub by himself. i love the picture because he was so proud of himself.
It is truly impressive how fast and how far they can get in a matter of minutes (seconds!). We have not had any flooding caused by the kids so far, but when I was around 10, I was being helpful and put dish soap in the dishwasher and flooded the kitchen with bubbles.
My 2 year old daughter has an obsession with the cat’s water dish and food bowl (she’s had this obsession for about a year now). When she isn’t putting the food into the water bowl, she is dumping the water bowl all over the dining room floor.
Her newest thing is to shake her sippy cup, filled with milk, all over the hardwood to create a trail of milk for the cat to drink up. More often than not, the lid manages to come off the cup and spill all over the floor. My living room ends up being mopped almost daily because of this. LOL
haha. my daughter does the shake milk or water out of spill-proof cups too.
When my little boy was almost 2, he managed to find the water dispenser on the front of the fridge… I was not in the room at the time. When I realized he was being awfully quiet, I found him still pushing the button down and flooding the kitchen floor. He’d never shown any interest in it prior to that. You can believe I started locking the dispenser after that.
i was wondering what that lock button was for on the water dispenser. now i totally understand the need for it.
when my son, emmett, was 3 he flushed a motorcylce down the toilet…the toilet flooded but we were so happy because we caught it so fast and cleaned it up. the next day we noticed a nice water spot on the ceiling of the kitchen. one day we might actually get it fixed!
my son (soon to be 3) loves playing with the faucet in the bathroom. he just lets it run and run and run. luckily enough, he hasn’t figured out how to press on the plunger to keep the water in or else i’d be in big trouble!
I am a mom to 7. LEARN TO LAUGH….I have had a flooded bathroom from the boys forgetting to turn the water off totally. I have kissy marks on my wall from my grandaughter. The boys tried to hatch eggs in the oven .Mine are all grown now. I can laugh at the children as parents now. They are good parents but have the mischievious kids too. I have had fun discovering your site tonight. I am off to bed..got ddaughter up for 3rd shift. Good luck. Wish I had this when I was a young mom.
