BTB Tip #18: Apron At Mealtimes

Back to basics tip #18: When your toddler get to the stage where he doesn’t want to wear a bib at mealtimes, put on an apron instead. I started doing that when I was 8-9 months pregnant and kept getting food on the belly part of my shirts. Then when my children grew out of the bib stage, we put aprons on them to protect their clothes. Sometimes they are messier when they self feed with utensils.

Good idea on the apron! After my daughter started pulling out her bibs, I got her a long-sleeve art smock at a crafts stores. I also keep a small jar with hair elastics in the kitchen area to keep her hair off her face. Somehow, she always manages to get yogurt, syrup, rice (!) in her hair and if it dries in place, it makes it harder to brush her hair to go out…

Um…GREAT idea! Reagan will NOT keep her bib on…its a game we play every meal time until I give up and strip her down naked! I need to get her an apron!

Hahaha. I love it. I see I’m not the only one with this great clothes saving idea. I too wear an apron when I am dressed nicely and don’t want to get any potentially messy food on my clothes and my 2 year old cannot seem to stay remotely clean while eating either.
