Simply Said… Marta of Marta Writes

It’s day before Thanksgiving. Are you running around doing last minute prep for the big day? Well, today I have a special guest, one of my favorite bloggers. Marta of Marta Writes. She is all sorts of awesomeness. First of all, she writes. Second, she has a shop full of paper goodies. I love paper goodies. Marta and I have been chatting and she is one of those people who makes you feel like you are her best friend right away. Don’t you just love people like that? Today she shares with us her quick and easy holiday treat. Here’s Marta who simply said…

Rolo Turtle Treats a.k.a. last minute munchies

I am thrilled to share a super simple recipe for a seemingly fancy festive treat.  This is a perfect project to keep kids busy and whip up while the bird is cooking. Of course you can make them beforehand for a lovely goodie to wrap up as a hostess gift! Your last minute gift idea will be a crowd pleaser! It takes only three simple steps (I thought you special agent oso fans would like that). This recipe makes 32 turtle treats.

Ingredients:

  • 4 packaged rolls of Rolos
  • 32 pecan halves or more
  • 1 pound bag of classic mini pretzels

1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Place mini pretzels on a cookie sheet and top each pretzel with one Rolo candy. Place in the oven for 4-6 minutes, just until Rolos start to melt (but not completely sloppy melted).

2. Take pan out of the oven and lightly press a pretty pecan on top of each Rolo candy and smush it carefully into a beautiful oblivion of chocolate and caramel. Let them cool awhile on the sheet and move them onto waxed paper or serving plate with the help of a metal spatula.

Watch your fancy sweets get gobbled up in minutes (even after everyone claims they’re stuffed). Dazzle your friends this holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you, Tiffany for letting me crash your darling website.

I have tried something similar with little square pretzels (the shape works well) and Hershey’s Kisses. But these sound even better…yum!

Wow, I’m so going to make these tomorrow!
I bet they’d be even tastier with toasted pecans.. of course, that’d add extra steps and time. I’ll give it a try and report back :-)
