Decorating Pumpkins From Papernstitch

Guest post by Brittni Mehlhoff of Papernstitch.

Halloween is just a month away now and pumpkin season is in full swing. So if you are looking for a safe and easy alternative to pumpkin carving this year, I have a simple, mess-free diy project that you can complete in 30 minutes or less (start to finish). And the best part? This project is perfect for kids (and adults too). All you will need are a couple of pumpkins, a few metallic paint pens, and a little imagination.

So how do you get started? It’s simple. I promise. Just use a couple of metallic paint pens to create different designs directly on each pumpkin. No prep work. No carving. No scooping out the insides. Just “drawing” with paint pens.

I have actually completed these painted pumpkins a couple years in a row now and every year I think about how cool these would be at a party or something. It is a good conversation starter. I would definitely give them away as party favors (maybe even customize each one with the person’s name for example). Great for kid’s parties especially!

Here are a few pictures of the process to get your brain churning with ideas…

That’s all there is to it! Now that you’ve seen how its done, you are ready to create your very own non-traditional pumpkin designs for the upcoming holiday. Happy (early) Halloween. Thanks so much Tiffany for asking me to be a part of Simply Modern Mom for a day.

Have your own designs and ideas to share for Halloween? Great! Leave your response in the comments below.
