A Toy Story Halloween

Happy Halloween from all of us Birds! The girls are ready to go trick-or-treating tonight. I have to say, this year I am more prepared for Halloween than previous years. And with a kindergartener in the house, Halloween has become a much more important holiday than previous years.

This year I made Kaye’s costume, borrowed Elle’s and reused Elle’s old costume for Eve. Kaye couldn’t make up her mind as to what she wanted to be this year. I thought a cowgirl would be cute. She loves Jessie from Toy Story, so I knew I could make her a Jessie costume and she would wear it. Elle knew she wanted to be Buzz Lightyear. No question about it. She is a huge fan of Buzz. And Eve. Well, she didn’t have much of a choice. I used Elle’s costume from two years ago, a chicken suit. The older two started to call her the Chicken Man (from Toy Story 2, Al’s Toy Barn).

This was my first year making Halloween costumes. Do people still make Halloween costumes? I had a great time figuring out how to put it together. I purchased the pair of jeans and white button up shirt from the thrift store for $5. Then went to JoAnn for the tassel and fabric for $8. And ordered the red cowgirl hat from Amazon for $6. Not bad, huh?

I hope you have a great time trick-or-treating tonight!

I love to make my kids costumes. This year my oldest daughter wanted to be a pirate princess from Jake and the Neverland Pirates and my youngest a witch. I made her a no-sew tutu to wear that she can reuse for dress up and will just wear a t-shirt and leggings with a witch hat.

I love the costumes, they look adorable! Every year I have the best intentions to make my girls costumes but I always run out of time. Maybe next year, lol! This year I have a Rapunzel and a Cinderella! Have fun tonight!

We use your other strategy – borrow! We borrowed a tinkerbell costume this year and a butterfly costume last year.
