Elfie the Elf On the Shelf

Is there an Elf on the Shelf in your house? The scout elf arrived at our house this weekend and the girls have been so fascinated by him. Kaye named him Elfie but Elle says his name is Super Why.

Those of you who haven’t heard of Elf on the Shelf, he is a scout elf that sits in your home and watches the children to see if they are naughty or nice. Then each night, when the children are asleep, he returns to the North Pole to report to Santa Clause. Upon returning into your home, he finds a new location to sit for the day.

When the elf first arrives into a home, the children name hime which gives him his magic. However, the children are not allowed to touch him. That will cause the elf to lose his magical powers. And the elf is not allowed to talk to the children. He is there to only listen to the children talk to him and watch them.

It’s a fun family tradition around the Christmas holiday. It helps to keep the children on their best behavior with a scout elf watching.

» Tell me… Do you have an Elf on the Shelf in your home? How do you keep your children on their best behavior this time of year?

We have a Christopher Pop In Kins and my kids love trying to find him everyday, since he moves every night. He shows up every year on thanksgiving night. Sadly, I think behavior has gone down hill this year since he’s been around.

What a very fun tradition! Cuteness!!!
Also, WHERE did you get that elf? We used to have one EXACTLY like it when I was a child! I had completely forgotten about it. He was played with and completely worn out by the time I left home, but he was always a favorite to find when getting out Christmas decorations.
Does he have sand in his legs or feet? I think ours did. Wow, that brought back some memories! :)
