Project 52: Toothless

We took Kaye for a routine dental cleaning a couple weeks ago and the dentist noticed something. She had an adult tooth growing behind her baby tooth. Oops. The baby tooth was loose but wouldn’t get pushed out since the adult tooth was growing behind it rather than under it. So the dentist gave use two weeks to get rid of her two front bottom teeth or he would need to pull them out.

Kaye was excited with the news. She had noticed other kids at school losing their teeth and wanted to join the ranks. Plus she was a fan of the Tooth Fairy. We got her to start wiggling the loose teeth and last Tuesday one came out as she was brushing her teeth. We didn’t noticed it had came out until she spit and saw blood. (Sorry if this is too much info for you.) At first I thought the tooth was washed down the drain since we didn’t see it in the sink. But later Nathan found it on the floor.

That night she tucked the tooth under her pillow and awaited for Tooth Fairy to bring her a surprise. I wasn’t sure how much Tooth Fairy was paying for each tooth these days. The next morning, Kaye found an envelope under her pillow. She received a special note and a dollar for her tooth. She was pretty excited.

» Tell me… How much does the Tooth Fairy pay at your house? Did you get coins or prizes when you were a child and lost a tooth?

This week’s feature is from Fancy Fonts who took her daughter to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade for her 5th birthday. What an awesome birthday gift!

Thanks for another feature! Slim pickins these days, huh? Although I am not a squeamish person otherwise, something about loose teeth makes me cringe! Haven’t experienced any teeth falling out just yet, but I’d imagine the first tooth might be worth a little more than the subsequent teeth…not sure how to tackle that one yet!

Good thing your dentist caught it early! Same thing happened to me when I was a kid but with a top tooth and it wasn’t caught. Resulted in some major crookedness! Thank goodness for braces 🙂

I had the same thing happen with top teeth which resulted in having teeth pulled and seeing an orthodontist from 2nd grade though 10th grade. I have one expensive smile. My kids when to the dentist today and they warned me that based on the growth of my daughter’s jaw she should start losing some soon.
