Changes to Simply Modern Mom

I have a feeling 2013 will be a year of decisions for me. That’s the way it is starting out. Not too bad though. So, I have been thinking about Simply Modern Mom a lot lately. I love blogging here and sharing with you what we are doing as a family, all my crafty things I have been making, my photography, some recipes and a few other crazy shenanigans. I started this blog 3 years ago while Nathan was in grad school and I had just birthed my second baby. I had lots of time then with a sleepy newborn and a husband who was gone until wee hours of the night studying and working. He has been done with school for two years, I have a third child and a few personal projects I am working on. So what I am trying to say is this is not a break up. No. I am not leaving you. Though this is me saying I won’t be posting consistently five times a week any more.

I have decided that I want to spend more time with my family, my husband, my children. I have so many things I want to do and blogging five times a week is prohibiting me from doing some of those things, time-wise. But this is a good thing for both me and you. The content of my posts will be more meaty now. And this will also provide me with more time to craft and share with you those fun crafty things. I will still blog each week. But I am down playing it to about three times a week rather than five. And this way, I won’t clutter your inbox or RSS reader if you are a subscriber.

With that said, I will be back tomorrow with a Valentine’s Day craft pattern. So I’ll see you then!

» Tell me… What are some things in your life that is taking time away from doing what you would like to do?

I think as our children get older, freetime for mother’s becomes harder and harder to find. I applaud your decision and I hope it offers you what you need. Running kids hither and yon and volunteering to help sucks my me time away. Be blessed.

Good idea learning what your priorities are and that they change as your life goes on. I was a full-on (read no spare time at all) mom to 5 very-close-in-age wild things also known as boys, including twins, and never had much time for anything else but helping them through whatever stage they seemed to go through all at the same time lol. Then I got sick when they were in their teens. Since then the battle for my time has been my health. It is really weird that no matter how hard I try, there are things I have zero control over and I just have to take each day as it comes. I love blogging, crafting, school….all those fun things I put on hold while taking care of my family….which I do not regret. Now I can’t do school and crafting and blogging happen when I feel well enough which is hit and miss at best. We don’t have a crystal ball though and we can’t always predict the twists and turns of life so enjoy your family time; enjoy your crafting time; enjoy your blogging time. Above all….have FUN!

If you took a peek over at my blog you will see that I have basically fallen off the face of the earth. I don’t know what I will do about it just yet. Our desktop computer is a dinosaur and posting on my blog literally takes hours. (Uploading, editing photos, typing, editing. Ugh) since our little one developed epilepsy in June, then we rode the roller coaster of anti seizure meds, helped oldest daughter move to Kansas, then got a diagnosis of legally blind to add to the Down syndrome and epilepsy…… Well. Blogging. It’s far down on the list. I am learning so much, I know our story would continue to be helpful, but at what cost? Thank you for being brave.
